Doug Bennett is pushing health care reforms he argues could lead to the repeal and replacement of Obamacare and a system offering plans better tailored to fit individual needs.
“The whole point of these plans will be driven by what you, the consumer, wants and not what the government thinks you need,” Bennett, a Deerfield Republican who is running against U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) in the 10th Congressional District in November’s general election, said in a new "Doug Bennett for Congress" YouTube video.
“This is a key way to drive down cost and make sure that the plans fit your needs, not what we think you need,” he added.
In taking on Schneider, Bennett emerged from an intensely contested, three-candidate GOP primary field. A social conservative who the Chicago Tribune reported is opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage, Bennett registered roughly 36 percent of the vote.
He previously ran for the Lake County board in 2012.
The 10th Congressional District covers an area spanning from Glencoe and Glenview to Zion, and from the lakefront to the Round Lake communities and Mundelein.
