Analysis: Elwood pays $8.71 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Elwood Fire Protection District

Taxpayers contributed 89.2 percent of the $147,947 the Elwood Fire Protection District brought in last year, or $8.71 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Elwood contributed $132,000 to the fund, which saw a $8,706 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $15,146, or 10.2 percent, in 2016. Another $801 came from other unspecified sources.
