Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) recently had a very special guest with her on the Senate floor.
Rezin took a moment during floor debate Feb. 28 to introduce her intern for the day: Matt Johnston,14, who is a student from Immaculate Conception in Morris. According to Rezin, Illinois has a future inventor in Matt, who has some very tasty ideas for the Prairie State.
“What he would like to be when he grows up is an electrical engineer,” Rezin said, adding she asked Matt what he would you like to invent. “He said, ‘Rright now I would like to invent a knife that when it cuts through bread, it toasts the bread.’”
Rezin said that it was a “great idea” and then introduced Matt’s father, Dr. Ben Johnston, who was in the chamber gallery.
“He is a friend, but also great doctor that works at Christi Clinic, so I would like a warm Springfield welcome,” Rezin said, bringing applause from her colleagues.
