Romeoville recreation department announces holiday events

Christmas2

Romeoville children and parents are sure to appreciate the holiday events put on by the Romeoville Recreation Department this year, including a coloring contest, letters to Santa and fun events at the Recreation Center, according to a recent Village announcement.

Head to the Recreation Center front desk to pick up holiday-themed coloring sheets for this year’s Holiday Coloring Contest. The desk will be collecting submissions until Dec. 10, and all sheets returned to the desk will be hung in the Center. The contest is for those 12 and under, and there will be first, second and third prizes for each age group. Winners will be announced Dec. 15. Participants can pick up entries to take home Dec. 22.

The Recreation Center will collect letters to forward on to Santa until 5 p.m. Dec. 10. This activity is for those in fourth grade or below. Parents should make sure their address is clearly printed on the letters to make sure that Santa’s response gets to their mailbox. Letters can be sent to: Romeoville Recreation Department, C/O Santa, 900 West Romeo Road, Romeoville, IL 60446.

On Dec. 19, parents with any last-minute Christmas errands to run can drop their little ones off for Parent’s Night Out – a three-hour event with holiday fun and a pizza party, starting at 5 p.m. The event is for children ages 4 to 12. All children must be potty-trained. It costs $12 for residents and $18 for non-residents. Parents can drop off and pick up their children throughout the party.

Children 5 years old and younger are invited to the Music Together Holiday Sing Along running from Dec. 4 to 18. The musical party will feature singing and dancing to new holiday songs and the classics, and is offered in two time slots: 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. It costs $39 for residents and $58 for non-residents.
