Two Village of Tinley Park officials are severing ties to Mayor Jacob Vandenberg and his Concerned Citizens for Tinley Park (CCTP) party, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).
Trustee Michael Glotz and Clerk Kristin Thirion said in a press release that they are concerned that Vandenberg has been straying from promises he made when the group ran as a political slate.
“Today, we admit our inability to guide the CCTP back on course and formally announce our separation from the party,” the release said. “Having exhausted all reasonable options, we believe we must now separate to maintain our integrity and honor our campaign promises.”

The joint statement said the duo would uphold their promise of opposing deals for insiders and those who contribute to campaigns and remain committed to open government.
The ECW reported in August that Vandenberg had an ethics complaint filed against him for an incident this summer. The complaint alleges that Vandenberg ordered police officers to move traffic cones to allow Vandenberg's party bus to use a closed street as part of attending a Paul McCartney concert on July 26.
Incident reports say Vandenberg was displaying erratic behavior and smelled like alcohol that evening.
