The calls in Northwest Homer included 46 fires - 32 structure fires, four vehicle fires and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $591,025 in fire loss - or about $12,848 per fire.
The department also received 232 false calls, including two malicious calls and 230 other false calls.
The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.
The Northwest Homer FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 10 active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $65,328 in debt as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,420 for every fire in 2016.
