An Illinois state representative who recently resigned missed more than 70 percent of General Assembly votes this year, an analysis showed.
Democrat Emily McAsey of Lockport, who represented the 85th District, missed 352 of 490 votes over a period from February through May, the Illinois Policy Institute reported. She resigned from her seat June 1 in order to move out of state with her husband, a staffer from McAsey's district office told the Illinois News Network.
The analysis showed that McAsey missed 352 out of 490 votes in the aforementioned time frame. She had excused absences five times in mid- to late February as well as several times in March through the first part of April. She had 206 missed votes recorded as excused absences, with the rest begin declared absent. In the last two days of this year's session, she missed out on 93 votes.
McAsey earned her first term in the General Assembly in 2008 and won four subsequent elections without facing a challenger.
The 85th District includes suburban Will and DuPage counties and the cities of Bolingbrook, Rockport and Romeoville.
