Will County Republicans cheered the results of several close races in the county that had hinged on the final vote count, which was conducted in Joliet recently.
Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar maintained his seat, as did Clerk Carol Penning. Bolingbrook voters also re-elected village Trustees Michael Lawler and Maria Zarate.
In Shorewood, Mayor Rick Capman will continue to serve the village following a successful re-election bid.
Channahon Township voters flipped the supervisor and highway commissioner seats to Republicans, voting in political newcomers Judy Wooten and Steve Troutman. Successful Republican candidates in Channahon Township also included Clerk Rita Cuchene-Hughes, who is new to the position but taking over from a fellow party member, and Trustees Mike Rittof, Brian Jackson and Bill Bankes, who kept their seats.
Republican trustee candidates in Lockport Township were able to land surprise wins in the traditionally Democratic stronghold through the hard work of committeemen and volunteers, according to Will County Republicans. Barb Delaney and Gregg Bickus will join the township board.
