A business boom in the northern Illinois town of Romeoville, population 40,000, is driving job growth, according to Mayor John Noak’s Feb. 9 state of the village address.
Over 2,000 new jobs have been added to the city, which sits approximately 25 miles south of Chicago, Noak said. This is driven largely by a $200 million capital investment in new construction.
The mayor predicted this year would be just as strong, “with more recreation opportunities, transportation enhancement projects, major corridor improvements and additional jobs,” according to a recent press release.
Additionally, the city is in great fiscal shape, according to Noak, who said revenue growth has lowered property taxes for citizens while beefing up the town’s reserve fund.
