REGULAR MEETING of the City Council of the City of Lockport, Illinois was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in the Lockport Township Community Room, located at 1463 Farrell Road, Lockport, IL. Mayor, Steve Streit called the Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

MAYOR’S REPORT

1. Lockport Village – formerly known as SOS Village, - Open House, Friday, Oct 10, 12-1:30 pm, 17545 Village Ln, Lockport. Tour newly updated 17 foster homes

2. LTHS – Angela Adolph

a. Thank you to the City, Public Works, Police and Fire, for participating in our Community event to support the High School during the recent lockdown.

b. Superintendent Morning Walks and Talks – John Dr. Robert McBride for an engaging conversation on Wednesday morning at East Campus. Reserve your spot between 7:45 am -9 am on October 22.

c. 2 merit scholarship finalists, which represent the highest students in the country. Credited to the advanced placement classes.

d. Lockport will be adding an 8th period to the day, allowing for more students to take advantage of dual credit or AP classes.

e. This is Homecoming Week

f. College Week on October 23

g. Fall Musical – 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee – October 31-Nov 1

2. Pugh – Police Department

a. On Monday, Sept 29, the Lockport Police Department proudly hosted a Tip-a-Cop Fundraiser in support of Special Olympics Illinois at Coom’s Corner Sports Grill. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the hard work of everyone involved, the event raised more than $1,200 for Special Olympics Illinois through the Law Enforcement Torch Run. It was a wonderful evening of connection, support and giving back. We are especially grateful to Coom’s Corner Sports Grill for their hospitality and partnership and to everyone who came out to make a difference for such an inspiring cause.

b. The Lockport Police Department hosted a free car seat check lane at Walmart on Sunday, Sept 28. Trained officers inspected more than 20 car seats to ensure proper installation, fit and compliance, helping families keep their children as safe as possible on the road. In addition, the department donated 10 car seats to families in need, reinforcing our commitment to child safety regardless of financial circumstances. A special thank-you goes to Walmart for generously hosting this event. As a reminder, the Lockport Police Department offers free car seat checks at the station Monday through Friday from 8 to 4 pm. To schedule an appointment, please call 815-838-2133.

3. Gillogly – Public Works

a. Fall Branch pick-up starts October 6 – there will be one pass thru the City

4. Bergbower – Bloom

a. September 27 transplant event – LTHS

b. October 14 7pm at the Lockport Public Library – Putting your plants to bed, how to prepare them for winter. Conservation foundation will be presenting awards for yards that have native plantings.

5. Bartlesen

a. Fall and Winter 2025 Property Beautification Contest 10/1-12/31/25. Recognition and winners awarded at City Council on February 4, 2026

b. City of Lockport Annual Shred Day – Saturday, October 18, 9-12 noon, City Hall Parking Lot c. October is the start of Breast Cancer Awareness
