The Village of Monee has announced that its annual fall water main flushing will begin on Monday, October 13, 2025. Residents are advised to look for signs in their neighborhoods, which will be posted at least 24 hours before flushing begins in each area.
During and after the flushing process, residents may notice discolored water. The village recommends opening a cold-water tap and letting it run for five minutes if discoloration occurs. If the water does not clear after this time, residents should turn off the tap, wait 30 to 45 minutes, and try again. The village advises against running water continuously for long periods as it is both wasteful and ineffective.
Residents are also cautioned to avoid using hot water taps when water is discolored to prevent sediment from entering their water heaters. Additionally, they are encouraged not to wash clothes during flushing or when water appears discolored to avoid staining.
For any questions about the water main flushing schedule or procedures, residents can contact the Village of Monee Public Works Department at 708-534-8306.
