The Village of Park Forest, in partnership with the Park Forest Veterans Commission, will host a Veterans Day event called “Wheels of Honor” on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The event includes a ceremonial motorcycle ride through the Chicago southland. Local leaders will deliver remarks and there will be a moment of reflection to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces. The ride ends at the Park Forest American Legion Post 1198, where attendees can have a catered meal, take part in raffles, and join post-ride activities.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring together families, veterans’ organizations, and residents to recognize military veterans’ service and sacrifice. The Park Forest Veterans Commission leads this effort. The volunteer group addresses issues affecting veterans’ quality of life, makes recommendations to officials, coordinates programs for veterans, runs initiatives like the Veterans Closet—which provides essentials—and offers benefits assistance.
“This is about honoring those who served and reminding our community of the stories and sacrifices that shape us,” stated the commission.
To support its ongoing services and future events such as Wheels of Honor, the commission is raising funds through a GoFundMe campaign. Donations will help outreach programs and direct assistance for veterans while supporting efforts to keep Park Forest welcoming for servicemen and women.
Motorcyclists interested in joining must pre-register and complete a release form. Registration materials are available at Park Forest Village Hall from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. on event day. The ride begins at 9:00 a.m., escorted by the Park Forest Police Department, with stops at several American Legion posts before ending at Post 1198 on Western Avenue.
Restrooms and vending machines are available at Village Hall before departure. Alcohol is not allowed until after arrival at Post 1198. There participants can access food, raffles, slot machines, pool tables, and music.
Online registration is also offered; participants may call the Park Forest Recreation, Parks, and Community Health Department at 708-748-2005 to avoid convenience fees.
