A motion was made by Councilman Joe Clement, seconded by Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, to approve Public Assets Committee Meeting Minutes 2-25-25. The motion carried by the following vote:

Resolution Accepting Sponsorship Agreement with Pabst Brewing Company, LLC
Blain Kline, Facilities Management Director discussed a promotional event with Pabst Brewing to taking place on July 22 hosted and held by the Slammers, because the stadium is owned by the city there needs to be council approval for any agreements.
Night Train Veeck, owner of the Joliet Slammers said they want to make sure they are in compliance with their liquor licenses, which is why they need the city's support for the agreement.
Councilman Clement asked about the promotion and Mr. Veeck explained what the promotion was.
A motion was made by Councilman Juan Moreno, seconded by Councilman Joe Clement, to approve Resolution Accepting Sponsorship Agreement with Pabst Brewing Company, LLC. The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: Councilwoman Ibarra, Councilman Clement and Councilman Moreno
Resolution Authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Joliet and Joliet Community Baseball and Entertainment LLC dba the Joliet Slammers Baseball Club Related to Slammers Stadium Field Netting.
Mr. Kline Discussed the stadium netting extension similar to major league baseball and other minor league stadiums. This is for spectator safety as well as liability for both the city and the slammers.
Mr. Veeck added that the driver on this was the insurance liability coverage and the second was fan safety.
Mr. Kline explained this is a one time payment and there are sufficient funds in the community development fund to support this.
Council Member Clement asked how long it had been since the netting had last been replaced.
Brent Fraser, Operating Engineer, answered that it had been about eight years since the netting had last been replaced.
A motion was made by Councilman Juan Moreno, seconded by Councilman Joe Clement, to approve Resolution Authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Joliet and the Joliet Slammers Baseball Club Related to Slammers Stadium Field Netting.. The motion carried by the following vote:

Slammers Update
Mr. Veeck gave an update of all the recent improvements at Slammers Stadium. He talked about upcoming promotions and successes of this season.
Museum Update
Mr. Gregory Peerbotle Chief Executive Officer of Joliet Area Historical Museum provided a handout with museum attendance and activities over the last several months. He spoke about the improvements to the museum and Phase I of the prison project is wrapping up.
Council Woman Ibarra asked about a rail car located on the former Splash Station property and Mr. Peerbotle knew who to contact to inquire about getting it moved.
NEW OR OLD BUSINESS - NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION
Mr. Kline and Dustin Anderson Director of Community Development, talked about 1000 N Center st being turned into a park. He also talked about the completion of construction at the Victor Center. Council Member Ibarra asked about the city's plans for that land, and Mr. Kline and Mr.Anderson explained the discussions that have been ongoing with the group that operates the facility.
Mr. Kline talked about the Loading Dock project that will start this fall at Slammers Stadium.
A general discussion was had about the EJ & E Rail Car at the old Splash Station property and where that might be moved to for the Museum's use.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Sharon Ferrer of the Miracle League of Joliet spoke about some of the needs of her organization. Mr. Kline will look into making some adjustments per the ADA for those individuals.
