Traffic changes on Essington Road due to water valve improvement project

Joliet, IL – Traffic modifications on Essington Road between Caton Farm Road and Ingalls Avenue have commenced as part of the Essington Road Water Valve Improvement Project. Starting July 14, 2025, the northbound left lane will be closed to traffic through July 18, 2025.

The project is expected to be completed with all lanes reopened by 5:00 pm on July 18. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes during this period.

"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone," stated city officials. Additional information can be accessed at www.joliet.gov/construction-zone or by contacting the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.
