Doris Kirkpatrick Bennett | Kurtz Memorial Chapel

Doris Kirkpatrick Bennett, born on September 24, 1928, in Bloomington, IL, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2025. She was the daughter of Julia and Harry Kirkpatrick, sister of Edwin Kirkpatrick, and spent her early years in Kankakee, IL. Doris attended the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where she met her beloved husband, Richard Chisholm Bennett. The two were married in a beautiful ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral after a courtship that blossomed from the University of Illinois.

Doris cherished her time working in the Executive Offices of Marshall Field & Company in Chicago. She and Richard were dedicated members of St. Lawrence O’Toole in Matteson, IL, finding solace in their shared faith. After 50 years in Park Forest, IL, they retired to Frankfort, IL, and she eventually resided at Smith Crossing in Orland Park, where she made lasting friendships.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Cathie Bennett Warner, son Richard C. Bennett II, and niece Diane Bennett Simpson, along with their families. She will be lovingly remembered by those who knew her for her kindness and grace. A visitation and Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, July 3, at Kurtz Frankfort Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in her memory would be appreciated.

To watch the live stream of the service, please visit https://www.asimplestreaming.com/dkbennett at 12:00 PM. Memorial trees or flowers can be sent through the flower store in memory of Doris Kirkpatrick Bennett.
