City of Lockport City Council met June 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

REGULAR MEETING of the City Council of the City of Lockport, Illinois was held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in the Board Room, 3rd Floor, of the Central Square Building, 222 E. Ninth Street, Lockport, Illinois. Mayor, Steve Streit called the Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

LIAISON REPORT

1. Mayor – Summer Art Series

b. Old Canal Days, Thursday thru Sunday, June 5-8, 303 W 2nd Street

2. Bartelsen – 2025 Spring Summer Property Recognition Contest – accepting nominations thru July 14. Recognitions will be in August.

a. Route 66 Garden Pop-Up on June 21st, 10-12, Bugs: Friends or Foes

b. Composting, Weeding and Rain Barrels, June 24th, 7-8 pm, White Oak Library

a. Two state champions in Track

b. Lockport Cemetery – 1894 medal of honor recipient George Theodore Hyatt was interred in Lockport. Original tombstone is here in Lockport. He was moved, the 1st to be buried at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery. Tombstone was in Lockport for 99 years; the tombstone will be moved to Gartner Illinois.

FN-1. Approving the Contract with Brock Industrial Services for Asbestos Removal from City Hall Suggested Action: Approve Resolution No. 25-048 authorizing the award of a contract for Asbestos Abatement Services to Brock Industrial Services, LLC as part of the City Hall HVAC Renovation project.

Director of Community & Economic Director, Lance Thies, presented the Staff Report.

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 25-048 AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SERVICES TO BROCK INDUSTRIAL SERVICES, LLC AS PART OF THE CITY HALL HVAC RENOVATION PROJECT. MOTION BY GILLOGLY, SECONDED BY MCDONALD.
