The Village of Park Forest is preparing to host its annual Fourth of July celebration, promising a day filled with activities suitable for families. Organizers have announced an evening that will feature live music and conclude with a fireworks display.
The event will begin with a parade at 6 p.m. on July 4, starting from the corner of Main Street and Orchard Drive. The parade route will proceed along Lakewood Boulevard to Westwood Drive, before returning north on Westwood Drive back to Orchard Drive and concluding at Lakewood Boulevard and Orchard Drive. Attendees can watch as participants distribute candy along the route.
Following the parade, Carla Prather will perform on the Village Green located at 349 Main Street. Her set will include a mix of soul, R&B, and house music. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs for seating.
The celebration will culminate in a fireworks display at Central Park, 410 Lakewood Blvd., beginning at 9:15 p.m. This display is highlighted by Village officials as one of the most anticipated Independence Day events in the area.
Additionally, food trucks offering various cuisines such as barbecue, shrimp, fish, chicken, and tacos will be available throughout the event.
Village officials emphasize that this celebration aims to bring together community members in observance of Independence Day through music, food, and entertainment. The event is open to all with no admission fee required.
