Vivian Lea Avey, aged 87, of Crete, Illinois, departed on May 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 23, 1937, in Bruno, Arkansas, Vivian devoted her life to her loved ones and faith community. Throughout her journey, she was a dedicated mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. Vivian was a remarkable disciple of Jesus Christ, remembered for her unwavering support, generosity, and kindness.

Vivian’s life was marked by her commitment to the Park Forest Church of Christ in Matteson, where she provided meals, financial aid, and encouragement to those in need, embodying her faith through service. She was a pillar in her family, actively supporting her husband in growing their family business and managing rental properties. Vivian was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim Avey, parents Oscar and Elpha McEntire, son Justin Owen Avey, and daughter Staria Lianne Lang. Vivian is survived by her children Joan, Valinda, Greg, and Theresa and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service for Vivian will be held on May 13 at the Park Forest Church of Christ in Matteson and she will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Illinois.

Gifts in memory of Vivian Avey may be made to Shults-Lewis Child and Family Services or a charity of choice. Vivian’s legacy of love, devotion, and service will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
