Betty Joann Halverson, 91, peacefully passed away on May 4, 2025, embraced by her Savior. Born on December 14, 1933, in Chicago, IL to Hjalmar and Agnas Praag, Betty was immersed in love and faith. On June 5, 1954, she married Jacque Halverson, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage, marked by devotion and joy. Betty's family was her greatest treasure, and her legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Survived by daughters Cheryl Halverson Bettenhausen, Gayle Kurowski, Sandra Latino, son Erik Halverson, sister Elaine Borkstrom, brother Gerald Praag, grandchildren Justin, Jesse, Erika, Jack, Isabelle, and Elizabeth, as well as great-grandchildren Rocky, Mila, Jesse Jr., and Raymond. Predeceased by parents, sister-in-law Muriel Slama, brothers-in-law Donald Alberts, Robert Halverson, Red Nagel, Dave Slama, Carl Borkstrom, and son-in-law Chris Kurowski.

Betty's gentle strength and unwavering faith made her the heart of her family. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she exuded grace and love, leaving each generation touched by her care. An artist at heart, her paintings of flowers mirrored her own nurturing spirit. Betty's deep faith guided her, embodying compassion and selflessness. She will forever be remembered for her service and love.

Services will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Beecher on May 12th. Burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Peace Lutheran Church’s Dorcas Society. Arranged by Hack-Jensen Funeral Home in Beecher.
