State Senator John Curran and State Representative Nicole La Ha will host a community recycling event in Lemont to assist residents in clearing out unwanted clutter. The event will occur on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Bambrick Park, located at 1330 Smith Road in Lemont, IL.
Residents are invited to bring items that are challenging to recycle such as old copiers, DVD players, and bikes. “This is a great event to help families with sustainable spring cleaning,” stated Curran. “I encourage all local residents to take a look at our acceptable item list and see what they can unburden themselves with at this free community event.”
Those attending are asked to remain in their vehicles upon arrival, where event team members will assist and collect their items. Organizations participating in the event include E-Tech Trading, Goodwill Industries, Lemont Lions Club, Lemont Police Department, Lemont VFW Post 5819, Paper Tiger, and Working Bikes. Information on various legislative topics will also be provided through brochures at the event.
“The Recycling Event is a great way to support our planet, declutter, and connect with other members of the community,” said La Ha. “I look forward to helping local families and our environment at this free event.”
A paper shredding truck will be present to handle old documents, with each vehicle limited to two grocery bags, until the shredder reaches capacity. Shredding services are for personal documents only, not commercial.
Acceptable recycled items include bicycles, bicycle parts and accessories, documents for shredding, prescription drugs in plastic bags, flags, hearing aids, glasses, gently used household items and clothing, and some electronics. TVs, CRTs, X-rays, liquids, appliances, light bulbs, and batteries will not be accepted. For more details and a full list of acceptable items, visit senatorcurran.com.
