City of Wilmington Committee of the Whole met March 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order

The Committee of the Whole meeting on March 11, 2025, was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor Dietz in the Council Chamber of Wilmington City Hall.

Roll Call

Upon Roll Call by the Clerk the following members of the corporate authorities answered “Here” or “Present”: Alderpersons Present Vice, Kirwin, Knight, Mietzner, Smith, Holmes

Alderperson(s) Absent Jeffries

Quorum

There were sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, so the meeting was declared in order.

Other Officials in Attendance

Also, in attendance were City Administrator Jeannine Smith, Finance Director Nancy Gross, Public Works Director James Gretencord, Chief of Police Adam Zink, ESDA Director Dennis Housman, and Deputy City Clerk Ziller

Approve Previous Meeting Minutes

Alderperson Vice made a motion and Alderperson Kirwin seconded to approve the February 11, 2025 meeting minutes and have them placed on file. Upon the voice vote, 6 yes. The motion carried.

The Committee reviewed the February 2025 Building Department Report as provided in the agenda packet.

Consideration to Approve the 2025 City of Wilmington Zoning Map

The Committee reviewed and discussed the changes made to the 2025 zoning map and agreed to place this on the March 18, 2025 City Council Consent agenda.

Chief of Police Monthly Summary Report

The Committee reviewed the Chief’s report included in the agenda packet.

Consideration to Approve the Hire of One New Police Officer

The Committee reviewed the Chief’s request to hire one new Police Officer and decided to include it on the consent agenda for approval by the City Council during their meeting scheduled for March 18, 2025.

Consideration to Approve the Quote from Axon Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $149,998.20 The Committee reviewed the quote and decided to include it on the consent agenda for approval by the City Council during their meeting scheduled for March 18, 2025.

Director of ESDA Monthly Summary Report

The Committee reviewed the report as provided in the agenda packet.

Consideration to Approve the Quote from Nationwide Generators in the amount of $12,512.03 The Committee reviewed the quote and decided to include it on the consent agenda for approval by the City Council during their meeting scheduled for March 18, 2025.
