Traffic flow in downtown Joliet is set to change as construction progresses on the Chicago Street Streetscape project. Starting Monday, April 7, 2025, Clinton Street will close from Ottawa Street to Chicago Street to facilitate water main work. This closure is expected to last about a week. As construction continues, further updates will be provided, especially as work progresses toward Scott Street.
Additionally, the existing closure on Chicago Street from Clinton Street to Cass Street remains in effect. This is due to ComEd’s vault reconstruction within the block. During this period, daytime parking on Chicago Street is prohibited between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The City Center parking deck is available for those needing parking in the area.
Pedestrians will find safe routes within the construction zone, marked by safety fencing or construction barrels. All businesses remain open, and pedestrian access is maintained throughout the project.
The City of Joliet will share more information as the construction phases advance.
