The City of Joliet's Department of Public Works has announced a road closure on Russell Street, spanning from Clement Street to Highland Avenue. This closure will commence on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
According to the department, the closure is necessary to facilitate the excavation and reconstruction of the existing roadway. This encompasses new curb and gutter installation and asphalt paving. The reconstruction is scheduled to continue until May 1, 2025. Despite the closure, local residents will still be granted access to their homes within the affected construction zone.
