The City of Joliet Board of Fire and Police Commissioners has scheduled a special meeting on Monday, February 24, 2025. The meeting will commence at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers located on the second floor of Joliet City Hall, 150 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois.
For those unable to attend in person, comments can be submitted via email to publiccomment@joliet.gov prior to the meeting.
The agenda includes several key items. Following roll call and approval of minutes from the previous meeting held on February 12, 2025, there will be a segment for citizens wishing to speak on agenda items. Each speaker is allotted a maximum of four minutes. This session is not intended as a question-and-answer period; thus, staff and Commission members typically do not respond directly to comments during this time.
The meeting will also feature a Secretary’s Report and discussions under new or old business that are not slated for final action or recommendation.
A closed session is planned where Officer Rachel Smithberg's promotion to Sergeant Smithberg within the Joliet Police Department will be addressed. Additionally, there will be discussions regarding the hiring of firefighter paramedics for Joliet.
Another public comment section allows individuals to speak about non-agenda items with similar rules regarding time limits and conduct applied as in the earlier session.
The special meeting will conclude with an adjournment.
