Lockport - Kathleen M. Bruss, 59, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Born in Orland Park, IL, Kathleen later resided in Lockport, IL, where she raised her family.

She worked at Lewis University, where she also completed her master's degree. Previously, Kathleen was employed at Joliet Junior College and worked as a beautician at Total Look Hair Salon in Homer Glen. She was an active member of Lockport Moose Lodge #1557, St. John Vianney parish where she taught Religious Education, and served as an advocate at Casa of River Valley in Joliet.

Kathleen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and reading, but above all else, she cherished her family and adored her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Ernie; loving children Megan (Tony) Almaraz, Melissa Bruss, and Ernie (Renee) Bruss; dearest grandchildren Evelynn, Emma, Autumn, Jackson, Maxwell, and Daniel; parents Anthony and Margaret Jakubicek; siblings Karen (Jeff) Wallis, Susan (Rick) Simpson, Peggy Jakubicek; and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS United Greater Chicago are welcomed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME. The Funeral will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, with Chapel Prayers at 9:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church.
