Village of New Lenox Safe Community Coalition Emergency Preparedness Task Group met Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the group:

CALL TO ORDER

Dan Martin called the meeting to order at 10:31am.

IN ATTENDANCE

The Emergency Preparedness Task Group Members in attendance were Dan Martin / Village of New Lenox, Amy Maher / New Lenox Community Park District & New Lenox Chamber of Commerce, Bill Byerley / New Lenox Emergency Services and Patty Cunningham / ParamontEO.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The Minutes from the November 13, 2024 Task Group Meeting, which had been disseminated via email to Task Group Members, were discussed. Bill Byerley made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Dan Martin. After no further discussion, the motion carried and the minutes were approved.

OLD BUSINESS

New Lenox CERT & SAR Update

Dan Martin provided the group with an update on the New Lenox CERT and New Lenox SAR Activities.

Dan showed the group the New Lenox CERT / SAR January 2025 Newsletter, which highlighted many of the below activities.

NEW BUSINESS

2025 Severe Weather Preparedness / Health and Safety Expo / Touch-a-Truck

The event will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Lincoln-Way WEST High School. At the request of the National Weather Service, they would like this to be Severe Weather Preparedness Training, rather than the traditional Severe Weather Spotter Training.

Expo 5-7pm

Touch-a-Truck 5-7pm

Training 7-9pm

Aside from what we have done in the past, are there any additional ideas / suggestions and is anyone willing to assist with planning?

“Stop the Bleed”

Our team of instructors will be teaching a class for Plainfield EMA on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 6:30pm. The class will be held at the new Plainfield EMA Facility.

“Stop the Bleed”

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Home Safety and Personal Defense” by Joe Malone

This class will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Stop the Bleed”

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

CERT Class #21

CERT Class #21 will be held in September and October, 2025. The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. The first class will

be on September 9th and the last class will be on October 2nd. The Final Exercise (Disaster Simulation) and Graduation will be held on Saturday, October 4th.

“Stop the Bleed”

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Surviving an Active Shooter Encounter” by Joe Malone

This class will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

We need NEW collaborative partners (individuals or organizations).

NEXT COALITION MEETING

The next New Lenox Safe Community Coalition meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 / 10:30am via Zoom Videoconference.

NEXT TASK GROUP MEETING

The next Task Group Meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 / 10:30am via Zoom videoconference.
