City of Braidwood City Council met Dec. 26.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on December 26, 2024 was called to order at 7:00 p.m., by Mayor Hart in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.
Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Hart requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered "Here" or "Present";
Elected Officials;
Present: Commissioner Walsh, Commissioner Wilczak and Mayor Hart
Absent: Commissioner Earling and Commissioner Wietting
Appointed Officials:
Present: City Clerk Weaver, City Administrator Altiery, Chief Goodwin, and City Attorney Wellner
Absent: City Engineer Sean Kelly
Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.
Public Comment: None.
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to approve meeting minutes from the December 10, 2024 Regular Council Meeting with a modification for a couple word spellings. Motion carried with 3 ayes: 0 nays; 0 Abstain (Walsh, Wilczak and Hart)
Mayor's Report: Hart: Requested a motion for Ordinance 24-53. Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh to approve Ordinance 24-53 to Increase the amount of Class A Liquor Licenses and Decrease the amount of Class B Liquor Licenses for the City of Braidwood. Motion carried with 3 ayes: 0 nays. (Walsh, Wilczak and Hart)
Requested a motion for Ordinance 24-54. Mayor Hart asked Josh Bolatto to come forward and give a report on the new phone system quote. Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh to approve Ordinance 24-54 Authorizing the City to purchase and to enter into any necessary agreements for the purchase of a phone system from Teletech Communications, INC. Motion carried with 3 ayes: 0 nays. (Walsh, Wilczak and Hart)
Administrator Report: Altiery: Federated bank is purchasing the old Busey bank and are planning to be up and running by the end of March.
Our Christmas lighting winners are 1st Place is 34722 S State Route 129, 2nd Place 115 W. Cermak, and 3rd Place 250 W. Third St.
City Clerk Report: No Report.
Engineer Report: None.
City Attorney Report: No Report.
Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to approve the Payment of Bills, in the amount of $345,525.81 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated December 26, 2024. Motion carried with 3 ayes: 0 nays. (Walsh, Wilczak and Hart)
Commissioner Wilczak then made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to Approve Payroll Expenses, in the amount of $98.676.64 as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated December 20, 2024. Motion carried with 3 ayes; 0 nays. (Walsh, Wilczak and Hart).
Streets & Public Improvement Report: Walsh: We had some snow that was taken care of and then melted by the end of the day.
The final bill for the roadwork we had done on N. English and S. Division came in about $30k less than the bid price. The payment was around $253k for the work done.
Public Property Report: None.
Public Health & Safety Report: Wilczak: Press Release for the Braidwood Police Department December 10-22, 2024. Total number of calls for service 248, case reports 20, total subjects arrested 9, total arrest charges 13, total number of traffic stops 115, citations 30, written warnings 52, semi-truck violations 3, and total number of P-tickets 6.
There were many wonderful decorations out on display and encourage those to enter the lighting contest next year.
Our Police Department participated in the Blue Santa event on Christmas where toys and food are delivered to some family in need.
Our Chief and staff put together our beautiful white Christmas Tree with tags of all the officers who have passed in 2024 across our country. A reminder of the people who put their lives at risk every day. There was a terrible accident on 155 where a state trooper was killed recently which is a reminder to drive safe and obey Scott's Law.
Planning & Zoning Report: None.
Old Business: No Report.
New Business: Walsh: Next Town Hall meeting will be Tuesday, January 14 at 6pm with a special guest of Doug Pryor who is the President and CEO of Will County Center for Economic Development.
Wilczak: Thank you to Commissioner Walsh for arranging the Town Halls and guests. Also, the CMAP program is nearing an end. We have worked close with them and they will have a final report that should come before council for approval.
Chief Goodwin: On Monday at 4pm at City Hall Chambers we will swear in three new officers where two will be attending the academy and one was already a police officer.
Mayor Hart: We have hired a part-time clerk at City Hall to help in the office.
Adjournment: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to adjourn the December 26, 2024 regular meeting of the Braidwood City Council. Motion carried with 3 ayes: 0 nays.
