Village of New Lenox Safe Communities America, Emergency Preparedness Task Group met Nov. 13.

CALL TO ORDER

Dan Martin called the meeting to order at 10:33am.

IN ATTENDANCE

The Emergency Preparedness Task Group Members in attendance were Dan Martin / Village of New Lenox, Amy Maher / New Lenox Community Park District & New Lenox Chamber of Commerce, Bill Byerley / New Lenox Emergency Services, Erik Hoffer / Northern IL Sprinklers, Carl Cicero / Metra, and Patty Cunningham / ParamontEO.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The Minutes from September 11, 2024 Task Group Meeting, which had been disseminated via email to Task Group Members, were discussed. Amy Maher made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Bill Byerley. After no further discussion, the motion carried and the minutes were approved.

Dan Martin provided the group with an update on the New Lenox CERT and New Lenox SAR Activities.

“Surviving an Active Shooter Encounter”

This class was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. The class was taught by Joe Malone. 80 citizens registered via Eventbrite and approximately 55 were in attendance.

“Stop the Bleed”

This class was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. 46 citizens registered via Eventbrite and approximately 35 were in attendance. Since the start of program, 826 people have been trained. The instructors on staff have over 300 years of experience.

NEW BUSINESS

2025 Severe Weather Spotter Training / Health and Safety Expo / Touch-a-Truck The event will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Lincoln-Way WEST High School. Let’s make this the biggest and best yet!

“Stop the Bleed”

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Home Safety and Personal Defense” by Joe Malone

This class will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Stop the Bleed”

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

CERT Class #21

CERT Class #21 will be held in September and October, 2025. The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. The first class will be on September 9th and the last class will be on October 2nd. The Final Exercise (Disaster Simulation) and Graduation will be held on Saturday, October 4th.

“Stop the Bleed” will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

“Surviving an Active Shooter Encounter” by Joe Malone

This class will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

NEXT COALITION MEETING

The next New Lenox Safe Community Coalition meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 / 10:30am via Zoom Videoconference.

NEXT TASK GROUP MEETING

The next Task Group Meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 / 10:30am via Zoom videoconference.
