Peotone, IL — Eugenia "Jeannie" Felicia Scheiman (nee Tompkins), a longtime resident of Peotone, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on December 2, 2024, at the age of 78. Jeannie, born on October 23, 1946, in Chicago Heights, was the daughter of Hiram and Genevieve Tompkins.

Jeannie dedicated over 40 years to her passion for hairdressing, owning and operating Just Jeannie's Hair Salon on Second Street in Peotone. Her salon was not just a place for beauty but a community hub where people socialized and cared for one another. Known for her love of dancing, bowling, socializing, and beauty, she found joy in shopping, meals out, and spending time with loved ones. Jeannie took great pride in her children and grandchildren, as well as her home. She was a devoted member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone.

Jeannie is survived by her children Matthew (Gina Rossi) Scheiman, Jason (Cyndi Rieder) Scheiman, Jordan (Alyssa) Scheiman, and Amanda (Matthew) McCorry; her grandchildren Genevieve Scheiman, Quaid Scheiman, Emmett McCorry, Palmer McCorry, and August Scheiman; sisters-in-law Barbara Kass and Judith Tompkins; brothers-in-law James (Joann) Scheiman and Bruce Scheiman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and a niece.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 5-8 p.m., with a funeral mass at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Father Thomas Milota. Following the service, Jeannie will be laid to rest at Peotone Cemetery.
