Village of Peotone Village Board met Oct. 28.
Here is the agenda provided by the board:
I. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor March at 6:00 pm.
II. Roll call
Village Clerk, Stacey Hartwell, conducted the roll call and following persons were present: Trustee Hudson, Trustee Sandberg, Trustee Sluis and Trustee Strba. Also present were Mayor March, Village Administrator Palmer and Village Attorney, Michael Marrs.
III. Public Comments: Ed Nelson from the Peotone Historical Society reported that the Mill has closed out its season and will re-open in May. The Mill will be open during Christmas in the Village from 9am-12pm. The Go Fund me is still active and the Historical Society has received approximately $12,000 in donations between the Go Fund Me and Restoration accounts.
Jim Williams from Cornerstone Coffee House wanted to thank Steve Chambers, the Village, Public Works and the Police and Fire Departments for help with the Trunk or Treat that Cornerstone Coffee House and Chambers and Sons held.
Mark Shelden with Pavlov Media spoke about the fiber high speed internet that they are constructing in Bradley, Bourbonnais and Manteno. An engineering review has been submitted to Peotone and they are excited to extend into Peotone. He stated that fiber provides faster, more reliable multi gig speeds and their company uses a combo of contractors and also trains their own crews to do their own repairs.

V. Staff Committee Reports:
A. Aqua – Angie Serafini reported that they have not received any calls and that the fence is going up at the Chemical Feeding Station.
B. Admin – Met with Public Works and the Union, the MOU may be on the agenda at the next board meeting. He and Trustee Hudson met with B&F and are working on a proposal for code enforcement services. There are two ongoing transportation studies in the Peotone area, and he will get info out for events.
C. Police - Halloween/Fall awards were awarded and Chief will post pictures. The Village received two grants: one for $15,000 for tasers and another for $2,500 from Com Ed for holiday lighting.
D. Public Works – Bob reported that branch pick up is complete for the year and leave collection is in full swing. The department will be changing trucks over to snow equipment. Tree planting will be taking place this week, they will be planning thirty trees.
Christmas Committee – The items discussed at the most recent Christmas Committee meeting were the sponsorship donations, the handouts/giveaways, the food trucks and Adopt A Soldier/Helping Hands donations.
VI. Mayor’s Comments - There are two upcoming transportation meetings and the Mayor strongly encourages residents to attend. He feels it is important to attend the IDOT one to get the Peotone interchange on their 5 or 10 year plan, that meeting is on November 13th from 3pm-6pm at the Will County Atrium. He wanted to thank Jim Williams and Steve Chambers for organizing the Trunk or Treat Event. Trick or Treat hours will be from 4pm-7pm on Halloween, please be cautious of children in the dark. Iroquois Paving has the final layer of asphalt in the downtown scheduled to be done the week of November 18th.

X. Correspondence/Communications/Petitions: The Mayor reminded everyone that the next regular board meeting will be on November 18th and that will be the only meeting in November. There will be a Planning & Zoning meeting in November to discuss the ordinance concerning truck parking at the travel center.
