Thomas Nelson, 84, a United States Army veteran, passed away on November 14, 2024, in Joliet. Born on July 9, 1940, in Beardstown, IL, Nelson was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Velma (nee Anderson) Nelson, and siblings Merle Widner and Barb Haywood, along with in-laws LeRoy Haywood and Ginger Nelson. He is survived by his brothers, Jack and Richard (Carol) Nelson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Nelson served in the Army before becoming a farmer in Joliet. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at Hickey Memorial Chapel, 2100 Calistoga Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451.
