Karl D. Baumhardt, 75, Remembered as a Dedicated Family Man and Veteran

Karl D. Baumhardt, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie, sons Daniel (Andrea) and Peter (Laura), grandchildren James, Joseph, Ava Maria, and Blayke, and sister Jeanine (Alan) Fournier. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Arlyn and Mariette Baumhardt.

A United States Navy Veteran onboard the USS Horne from 1966-1969, Karl dedicated over 30 years to a printing career and later worked as a School Bus driver for District 57 in Mount Prospect. Away from work, he enjoyed fishing, outdoor activities, and passionately supported the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Visitation for Karl will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in Frankfort. Services will continue the following day, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with a visitation from 9:30am until the service at 10:30am. Full military honors will accompany his burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to PAWS Chicago are appreciated.
