The City of Joliet Board of Fire and Police Commissioners convened on June 6, 2020. The meeting commenced with a roll call, followed by an opportunity for citizens to address agenda items. Speakers were allocated a maximum of four minutes each. It was noted that this segment is not intended as a question-and-answer period, and neither staff nor Commission members typically respond to public comments.

The City Clerk holds the public speaking procedures document, which stipulates that speakers who disrupt the harmony of the meeting may be called to order by the Presiding Officer and potentially lose their chance to speak.

The Secretary's report was presented next, followed by discussions on new or old business without final actions or recommendations. A closed session then took place regarding the hiring of twelve police officers.

Subsequently, another public comment section allowed individuals to speak on non-agenda items under similar conditions as before: a four-minute limit per speaker with no expectation of responses from staff or Commission members. Again, disruptions could result in forfeiture of speaking privileges.

The meeting concluded with an adjournment notice emphasizing accessibility and offering reasonable accommodations through Christa M. Desiderio, City Clerk.
