Village of Peotone Village Board met April 29.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor March at 6:00 pm.

II. Roll call

Village Clerk, Stacey Hartwell, conducted the roll call and following persons were present: Trustee Hudson, Trustee Richards, Trustee Sandberg, Trustee Sluis and Trustee Strba. Also, present were the Mayor, the Village Administrator and the Village Attorney.

III. Public Comment

Ed Nelson spoke on behalf of the Peotone Historical Society and stated that the building is in bad shape and they don’t want to see it come down if it doesn’t have to but due to the condition they understand and that with the Historical District Downtown hopefully with anything new being built the Village will enforce guidelines or make look historic if possible.

IV. Approve Resolution Authorizing the Emergency Demolition of the Dangerous and Unsafe Structure at 201 N. Second Street, Peotone, Illinois, Waiving Competitive Bidding and Approving an Emergency Demolition Services Proposal Between KLF Enterprises and the Village of Peotone

Don Daly, owner of the building, spoke and said that he has coordinated with the streetscape contractor and the equipment is in place and the building is scheduled to be taken down on Wednesday morning. The Mayor stated that the Village has been working with him for several years to get the building taken down and if the building isn’t taken down on Wednesday that the Village will have it taken down on Thursday.

Absent: Trustee Marevka

Abstain: Trustee Hudson
