The City of Joliet Plan Commission has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 150 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60432. The commission members include Jason Cox, Jeff Crompton, Chairman John Dillon, Jason Heath, Chairman Pro-Tem John Kella, Dominic Orlando, Roberto Perez Brigette Roehr and Marc Rousonelos.
Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting have been encouraged to email their comments ahead of time to publiccomment@joliet.gov. During the meeting itself, there will be two sections for public comments. One section is dedicated to comments on agenda items and the other for non-agenda items. Each speaker is allotted a maximum of four minutes.
The meeting's agenda includes approval of the April 18, 2024 Plan Commission Minutes and several business items. These items include a hearing on the annexation of 19535 NE Frontage Road and its classification to R-5 (Multi-Family Residential) Zoning along with an approval of an annexation agreement. Other points on the agenda include preliminary and final planned unit development of The Preserve Townhomes and zoning ordinance amendments related to solar energy systems.
The commission emphasizes that these comment periods are not question-and-answer sessions and that staff and the Plan Commission do not generally respond to public comments. Any speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the Plan Commission may be called to order by the Presiding Officer and could forfeit their opportunity to speak.
