The City of Joliet has announced that it will once again host the Santa Send-Off event on Saturday, December 16, 2023. This event, which has become a favorite among residents, will give everyone in the city an opportunity to say goodbye to Santa before he heads back to the North Pole to prepare for his Christmas Eve journey.
Mayor Terry D'Arcy expressed his excitement for the upcoming event, stating, "We are thrilled to bring back the Santa Send-Off for another year. It's a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and bid farewell to Santa as he embarks on his important mission."
During the event, members of the Joliet police, fire, and public works departments will escort Santa through the city. Residents are encouraged to meet the motorcade of City vehicles at a location of their choosing along the parade route. A map of the route, as well as turn-by-turn directions, can be found on the official City of Joliet website.
The Santa Send-Off will begin at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Woodruff & Draper Avenue, heading west. The event is expected to last approximately one hour and twenty minutes, ending at the intersection of Ridge and Caton Farm. Throughout the event, live location updates will be provided on the City's official Facebook and Twitter pages (@TheCityofJoliet).
It is important to note that candy will not be distributed during the parade. In order to ensure the safety of all participants, residents are advised to remain on the sidewalk at a safe distance from the street.
The City of Joliet wishes everyone a happy holiday season and invites all residents to join in the Santa Send-Off event. It promises to be a festive occasion filled with joy and goodwill.
