City of Lockport City Council met Oct. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

REGULAR MEETING of the City Council of the City of Lockport, Illinois was held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in the Board Room, 3rd Floor, of the Central Square Building, 222 E. Ninth Street, Lockport, Illinois. Mayor Steve Streit called the Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

LIAISON’S REPORT

1. Bartelsen – reminder to take pictures for submissions for Fall beautifications 

2. Deskin

a. Cemetery Board – finally obtained license thru the State of Illinois so that they can start selling graves

b. Ben Benson is celebrating his 10th year as City Administrator at the City of Lockport 

3. Pugh

a. Lockport Police Department will be taking part in the Rotary Club of Lockport 5t Annual Coffin Race, which takes place on Saturday, October 14th from 1-4 pm. The event starts with a short parade from City Hall to the 900 block of South Hamilton Street where the races take place.

b. Lockport Police Department will also be taking part in this year’s Trunk or Treat, which is being held at the Lockport Township Office located at 1463 S. Farrell Road. This event takes place on Thursday, October 26th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

c. Oktoberfest, 25th anniversary – St. Joseph – live music all weekend, more information online

d. Lockport Township High School foundation board – special thanks to the City for the support of Taste of Lockport event.

4. Mayor

a. Lockport Township High School foundation board – internship program – investing in our resident students

b. Theatrical Tragedy – Josiah Posey – author from Lockport, will be holding a book signing at Coom’s Corner – November 4th

6. PW-1. Release of Bond and Initial Acceptance of Site Improvements for Prologis Building 7 Suggested Action: Approve Resolution No. 23-083 to release the Bond and Initial Acceptance of Site Improvements for Prologis Park Building 7.

7. PW-2. Initial Acceptance for Heritage Crossing Building 7 Trailer Parking Expansion Suggested Action: Approve Resolution No. 23-084 for initial acceptance of Heritage Crossing Building 7 Trailer Parking Expansion.

8. PW-3. Authorize Surface Transportation Program Local Funding for the IL Route 7 (9th St) Channelization Project in the Total Amount of $6,620,000.00 and Accept Proposal from Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. for Construction Engineering Services for a Not-to Exceed Amount of $1,003,160.00 Suggested Action: Approve Resolution No. 23-087 to authorize Surface Transportation Program local funding for the Illinois Route 7 (9th St.) Channelization Project in the total amount of $6,620,000.00 and accept proposal from Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. for construction engineering services for a not-to exceed amount of $1,003,160.00.
