State Sen. John F. Curran of the Illinois General Assembly has criticized Governor J.B. Pritzker for prioritizing his political aspirations above his responsibilities as governor, specifically with regard to the governor's health benefits for immigrant adults and seniors program. "It is impossible to talk about Illinois’ challenges without talking about the governor’s health benefits for immigrant adults and seniors program", said Curran on Nov 1st.

Curran expressed concerns over the cost structure of the program, its lack of transparency, and Pritzker's alleged failure to implement any cost control measures that he had previously mentioned. "While the governor signed the program into law, he has deflected any responsibility for the out-of-control costs of the program, blaming the legislature… This is just one more example of Gov. Pritzker prioritizing his personal political aspirations over the people he was elected to represent", stated Curran.

Furthermore, Curran accused Gov. Pritzker of being more interested in gaining national recognition than managing Illinois state agencies and departments under his control. In addition to this, he questioned who would look after Illinois government while Gov. Pritzker promoted Think Big campaign in other states such as Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio and Arizona.

Curran ended his statement with a direct message to Gov. Pritzker: "Governor, it’s time to come back and work for the job you were elected to do."

John F. Curran was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2017. He is a Republican from Downers Grove who served on both Appropriations II Committee and Assignments Committee.

Meanwhile, Gov. J.B.Pritzker launched his nonprofit 'Think Big America' in Oct., as a spin-off from his 'Think Big' gubernatorial campaign theme from 2018.

The objective of Think Big America is primarily directed towards promoting ballot measures that safeguard abortion rights with key personnel such as businessperson Desirée Rogers, Illinois state Rep. Margaret Croke and Chicago Ald. Michelle Harris making up its board of directors.
