LIAISON’S REPORT

1. Bartelsen – summer nominations for beautification awards have been made. The nominations for fall entries are open.

2. Saban – Summer Art Series – this Friday, August 4th, is Concert in the Park at the Public Landing.

3. Mayor –

a. Updated the members of the City Council about events about fields (former Chevron Property-Star Innovation Center) that are difficult to develop, but solar fields may be more conducive development with community buy-in opportunities such as getting 10% off the utility bills if they sign. The City could take the revenue from leasing the fields to offset the maintenance of the fields.

b. Caton Farm Rd. to Bruce Rd. connection project update: a private developer that did the Houbolt Rd. Bridge is interested in the bridge project. The rub being that a 4-lane bridge over the canal into a 2-lane road doesn’t make sense. CED may coordinate the project. The cost would can be done with private investment.

4. Pugh –

a. Lockport Community Event will be held on Saturday, August 5th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lockport High School, East Campus, on the parking lot off of Farrell Rd.

b. The 5-0 took place on July 22nd and a total of $187,000 was raised.

c. Burgers & Badges Fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, August 16th, starting at Culver’s in Lockport. 10% of the sales proceeds will go to the Special Olympics.

d. Officer Truhlar was recognized by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists for “exceptional D.U.I. enforcement”. Officer Truhlar has made nearly 200 D.U.I. arrests to date.
