City of Wilmington City Council met July 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

MAYOR BEN DIETZ CALLED TO ORDER THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE WILMINGTON CITY COUNCIL AT 7:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL

After the pledge of allegiance, the following answered to Roll Call: Alderpersons Kevin Kirwin, Ryan Jeffries, Dennis Vice, Ryan Knight, Leslie Allred, Jonathan Mietzner, and Thomas Smith. Absent: Todd Holmes. The number present constitutes a quorum.

Also present: City Administrator Jeannine Smith (via Zoom), Finance Director Nancy Gross, Chief Adam Zink, Public Works Director James Gretencord, City Attorney Bryan Wellner, and Deputy City Clerk Joie Ziller.

CITIZENS COMMENT

No comments were made.

CONSENT AGENDA

1. Approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes June 20, 2023

2. Approval of the Accounts Payable Report

Alderperson Kirwin made a motion and Alderperson Jeffries seconded to approve the Consent Agenda for the June 20, 2023 City Council meeting as presented

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 7 Kirwin, Jeffries, Knight, Mietzner, Allred, Smith, Vice

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Holmes

The motion carried.

MAYOR’S REPORT

Mayor Dietz thanked all the volunteers who came out and helped with the Let Freedom Rock Celebration and thanked the Steering Committee for putting this event together. Mayor Dietz provided an update on the MFT streets project.

ORDER OF BUSINESS

Alderperson Mietzner made a motion and Alderperson Smith seconded to approve the annual salary increase for Deputy Chief of Police Justin Dole to $108,000, retroactive to June 20, 2023

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 7 Mietzner, Smith, Jeffries, Vice, Kirwin, Knight, Allred

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Holmes

The motion carried.

Alderperson Vice made a motion and Alderperson Allred seconded to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with Intergovernmental Law Enforcement Officer In-Service Training Act Public Act 82-674

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 7 Vice, Allred, Mietzner, Smith, Jeffries, Kirwin, Knight

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Holmes

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 7 Allred, Mietzner, Knight, Kirwin, Jeffries, Smith, Vice

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Holmes

The motion carried.

Alderperson Allred made a motion and Alderperson Mietzner seconded to close Executive Session at 7:15 PM

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Holmes

The motion carried.

The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Alderperson Knight and seconded by Alderperson Allred. Upon the voice vote, the motion carried. The City of Wilmington City Council's regular meeting on July 5, 2023, adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
