City of Joliet Committee on Citizens with Disabilities met June 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL

Present: Gary Jones, Kim Hudgens, Chairperson Tony Arellano, Kevin Huckfeldt and Veronica Pollard

Absent: Chairperson Pam Heavens, Sherry Voight, Billie Jo Adams and Steven Voight

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Kim Hudgens, seconded by Veronica Pollard, to approve Committee on Citizens with Disabilities Minutes-4/18/23. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Jones, Hudgens, Chairperson Arellano, Huckfeldt and Pollard

Absent: Chairperson Heavens, Voight, Adams and Voight

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

None.

This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding agenda items and are allowed a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff, and the Committee members do not generally respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures; please note, speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak.

PRESENTATION: ELIZABETH GONZALEZ, COMMUNITY RELATIONS MANAGER, PACE BUS

Ms. Elizabeth Gonzalez, Community Relations Representative with Pace Bus, gave a presentation to the Committee regarding ADA transportation, dial-a-ride, etc.

Ms. Daphne Phillips, RTA, gave some background information about programs that the RTA offers.

The Committee members introduced themselves.

PRESENTATION: JFD CHIEF CAREY, COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION

Chief Jeff Carey, Joliet Fire Department, gave a presentation about community risk reduction as well as their success with Thriveworks.

Committee Member Ms. Kim Hudgens, Cornerstone Services, gave an update on what her programs are about at Cornerstone.

NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR

RECOMMENDATION

Chairman Arellano inquired if everyone completed the OMA certification. Ms. McNichol responded.
