While Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is one of three democratic leaders thought to be raising their profile on the national stage to possibly make a run for the White House, he recently praised President Biden for doing a “terrific job.”
“This is somebody who, in the last two and a half years, has gotten more done than most presidents get done in four or eight years,” Pritzker told "ABC News Live Prime" anchor Linsey Davis, as reported by ABC News. “And he's brought Republicans and Democrats together to get it done. So there's no reason to think that he isn't going to be able to do that for the next four years, too.”
Pritzker also told Davis that he was "flattered to have been considered among people who might run for president."
Joining Pritzker on the short list of possible candidates are Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, with Pritzker gaining added attention for having attracted the 2024 Democratic National Convention to Chicago by saying the cost of the event can be covered by himself and the local business community, according to ABC News.
In addition to working to bring the convention to Chicago, ABC News states Pritzker has also been involved in securing donations in battleground elections and becoming a part of Biden's reelection advisory board.
Whitmer, who also serves as a co-chair for Biden's reelection campaign, first rose to national prominence in 2020 with much of the attention stemming from then-President Donald Trump's constant criticism of her strict COVID-19 policies. She was also the victim of a failed kidnapping plot.
In the wake of the Supreme Court recently moving to reverse Roe vs. Wade, ABC News states that “Newsom launched an ad campaign calling for other states to adopt abortion policies that mirror California's -- specifically calling out seven states that were pursuing laws limiting abortion.”
