The Plainfield Village Board celebrated the promotions of four police officers during a meeting held on May 1.
Plainfield Police Chief Robert Miller presented the officers to the board, thanking them for the opportunity to commemorate the occasion.
“It is very important to us, and I know it's been talked about in the past that it's important to you as well," Miller said. "When we have career milestones like this for you to let us play this out right here with the group’s family and friends -- because this is really, really an important accomplishment in these officers’ lives and careers.”
The Plainfield Police Department (PPD) was promoting three officers to the rank of sergeant and one to the rank of commander. Detectives Amanda Felgenhauer and Dino Dabezic and Officer Ryan Sester were each promoted to Sergeant, and Kevin McQuaid was promoted to Commander. Plainfield Mayor John Argoudelis administered the oath of office for all four.
The officers were then invited to have their family members stand with them, with Miller explaining that PPD tradition has family members pin new badges on the promoted officers. "It's a special moment for both the officers getting promoted and their family members,” Miller said. Felgenhauer was pinned by her husband Jason, Dabezic was pinned by his son Aiden, Sester was pinned by his wife and fellow PPD officer Casey, and McQuaid was pinned by his wife Sarah.
“I would like to congratulate those officers," said Board Trustee Cally Larson. "I would also like to congratulate the previous patrol officers who were sworn in this past Monday. We have a lot of change happening within our police department, and it's an exciting time with the new chief and with a lot of change happening. It's nice sometimes to see things move around, and congratulations to each and every one of them.”
