Will County Gazette

There were 96 offenders living in Will County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Will County Gazette.

The data shows 92 men and four women were released in Will County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 32. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2020, and the oldest was a 77-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2005.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Kenny W. Smith. He was convicted of homicide in 1994 when he was 27 years old. He is now 55.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
