Gov. J.B. Pritzker is hard at work trying to sell the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on the idea of hosting the 2024 convention in Chicago.
“If you want to showcase what this administration is really all about, there’s no better city among the ones that are currently being talked about than Chicago,” Pritzker said.
Competition is in the air as to which state will host the DNC.
Chicago and Atlanta are rumored to be the two finalists still being considered for the role of the host city, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The Chicago backers are increasingly focused on disqualifying Georgia because it is a right-to-work state with few union hotel rooms.
However, organized labor is a major player in the Democratic Party, with labor voters a key constituency. Employees in right-to-work states like Georgia cannot be compelled to join a union.
Therefore, Pritzker insists that Chicago should be the host and he plans to directly address the president.
Over the next few days, Pritzker plans to pitch President Joe Biden on the idea of Chicago as the host city. His pitch will feature guarantees to the DNC that the party would lose no money if Chicago snagged the convention.
