Sgt. Brandon Tilton with Mayor Timothy Baldermann | Village of New Lenox
At the Dec. 12 meeting of the New Lenox Village Board, Brandon Tilton was sworn in to replace Sgt. Dave Dileto.
Dileto retired from the New Lenox Police Department in early December. Mayor Timothy Baldermann told the board that Dileto is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served New Lenox diligently and graciously. Baldermann thanked him and his family.
“Because obviously our police officers cannot do the job that they do, can't be focused on the job at hand without having a tremendous support system at home," Baldermann said. "So we always say that to all the families of our police officers. We thank you for what you do so they can come out and keep the rest of us safe. So we appreciate it.”
Tilton was promoted to sergeant. He started as a cadet in the New Lenox Police force. He is in the U.S. Army Reserves, and previously was a south Chicago Heights officer before joining the New Lenox force in 2015, becoming a detective in 2018. He serves on the South Suburban Range of Crimes Task Force as a supervisor and is also a member of the Will County Sheriff’s SWAT team.
Tilton had a host of police officers and employees at the meeting to support his swearing in, along with his family and wife and three children. He will be a sergeant in the patrol division.
