Tinley Park's newest public works department service representative Kelly Sciaky is thankful for the opportunity to work for the village.

Sciaky was one of three newly hired employees to be officially appointed to their new positions during the December 6 Village Board meeting.

"I would just like to thank everybody for the opportunity to work for the village of Tinley Park," Sciaky said during the public meeting. "And I look forward to working for all the residents here."

Sciaky experience includes more than 17 years working in customer service. Mayor Michael Glotz says she's used to being the first face customers see when entering a business and to helping them with their requests. She plans to be a cheerful face in the village.

Mayor Michael Glotz also appointed Maria Janik to a full-time custodial position in the village. Janik has spent more than three decades working in custodial services and has provided cleaning services to residential and commercial clients as well as hospitals and corporate offices. Glotz added she came highly regarded and recommended.

Finally, Glotz appointed Michael Walen to the position of associate planner for the village. Walen has seven years of planning experience, starting his career in the nation’s largest park district. He most recently worked in Florida, where he participated in governmental planning. He holds a bachelor’s in urban and public affairs and is working on his master’s degree.
