4. Approval of Ordinance No. 623 Authorizing the Dedication of Sand Ridge Savanna Nature Preserve Addition

Executive Director Schultz gave a brief explanation regarding the dedication and addition to the Kankakee Sands Preserve. The dedication as a Nature Preserve will afford the property with the greatest amount of protection allowable within the State of Illinois, while still allowing the Forest Preserve District to maintain ownership. The Forest Preserve has “grandfathered” in the current preserve trail within the dedication document as well as the construction of a future extension if desired.
