At the Nov. 15 Joliet Township High School 204 Board of Education meeting, Joliet High School West principal Tecar Parker recognized a group of students.
Parker told the board about a group at the school called the Chick- fil-A Leadership Academy. The program is about fostering and supporting leadership qualities among students by planning and leading an impact project. In 2022, the West campus created the Best of West Fest which was a back-to-school showcase led by upperclassmen. It raised more than $2,000 which went to the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet and a local family battling cancer. The seven students in the group were honored by the board.
Chuck Ball was also honored by the Archives Committee for his more-than-three decades serving in the Joliet Central campus in his position of lead maintenance. He also constructed and designed all the cabinets throughout the high school. These cabinets house and keep artifacts from generations of students at the high school. He was gifted a plaque for his dedication to the district.
As a special recognition for the Board of Education and in honor of National School Board Recognition Month, students from each of the campuses thanked the board members for their service to the district. They thanked the board members for their hard work and shared some of their inspirational educational journeys as proof of the impact their leadership has had on the district.
