Meeting was called to order by President VanDuyne at 9:32 AM.

V. COMMENTS BY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Executive Director Schultz highlighted another one of the Forest Preserve’s organizational principles; Promoting Sustainability. Schultz stated that we manage the Forest Preserve's financial, physical, and human resources to protect past investments and ensure future success in achieving our goals. Changes in the economy, in our climate and in social conditions will all have an impact. Understanding and planning for these changes is critical to the sustainability of our organization. We strive to be a leader among our contemporaries in the region, as well as an agency of choice within the local community and beyond.

Schultz defined the District's sustainability's in several categories:

• Use of Funds

• Source of Funds

• Levy Year

• Maintenance and Improvements

• Human Resources

• Sponsorship's and Donations

Executive Director Schultz was pleased to announce the awards and accomplishments given to the Forest Preserve District of Will County:

• Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting

• Excellence in Ecological Restoration, Gold Accreditation

• Marketing Award from National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials (NACPRO) for “The Buzz”

Looking forward in 2022 the District will work to:

• Evaluate and revise existing, or create new, field trip and in-school programs to meet current education standards and curriculum needs.

• Embark on several large pavement renovation projects, including resurfacing the Joliet Junction Trail; a portion of the Old Plank Road Trail; and the roadways and parking area at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center.

• Continue to present organizational financials reports that are complete, comprehensive, and in full disclosure.

• Secure information technology system, providing a resilient infrastructure that mitigates risk, provides security, and supports business continuity.
